 Friday, April 18, 2014 - Gov. Christie makes appointments to LPG safety board

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie yesterday announced the following appointments to the state's Liquefied Petroleum Gas Education and Safety Board:

Environmental Community Representative

Chuck Feinberg (Rockaway Township, Morris)

The LPG board functions under the Division of Codes and Standards within the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The board is required to meet quarterly to advise the Department on the enforcement of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Act and the DCA's Liquefied Petroleum Gas regulations.

Recent Awards and Grants

City of Linden - Linden Receives $20,000 Grant for HawkRise Habitat - $200,000 was awarded through the Sustainable Jersey Small Grants program funded by the PSEG foundation. The City of Linden received a $20,000 grant for its proposed project which is to continue its restoration of the HawkRise Habatit.

Woodbridge Township -
Named one of the 2013 Small Grant Recipients by Sustainable Jersey and partial program sponsor, Walmart. The winning $20,000 grant is for a complete streets pilot program to be implemented in the Avenel section of Woodbridge. The pilot program will be part of the township’s larger Sustainable Woodbridge initiative. More info.

Bijou Properties, Hoboken, NJ -
Awarded USGBC-NJ Gala Award 2013 for URBAN GREEN PROJECT: The Edge Mixed Use Building in Hoboken. This is New Jersey's first ever LEED Gold residential high-rise (Garden Street Lofts. Bijou will maintain a minimum LEED Gold certification for each of its new buildings.

City of Linden - Linden to Receive $2.4 Million Grant to Save 14 Firefighters Jobs - 
Greener by Design in partnership with Muller Bohlin Associates assisted the City of Linden in its grant application to save 14 jobs in the Linden Fire Department. The funding is awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) programs.
